Internal Capability Development Scheme (ICDS)
ICDS seeks to help SMEs to improve
-efficiency of their value chain
-responsiveness to customer requirements and market dynamics
-overall competitiveness through professional or technical input
2. Indicative list of what ICDS covers
-Productivity improvement/Process reengineering/Lean manufacturing
-Accreditation to National/International/Sector specific standards
-Registration of Trademarks, Patents and Intellectual Property
-Barcode Registration with initial registration, training and membership fees
Registered entities or Associations operating within a particular sector may request to enlist
external expertise for common benefit.
3. Grant Value under ICDS*
80% of total costs up to a maximum of Rs 150,000
-be a duly registered SME
-have an annual turnover not exceeding Rs 50 Million
-be engaged in any legal value creating economic activity except pure trading.
-hold a valid trade license
-must have been in operation for at least six months from the date of issue of BRN
In order to encourage continuous investment in capability development, refunds will be entertained where SMEs have, in a previous financial year, benefitted from grants for similar purposes.

*Notes to grant values
(1)Total grants within a specific scheme or across schemes will be capped to a maximum of Rs 150,000 for each eligible SME.
(2) Maximum values of grants may, wherever applicable, be adjusted to accommodate a higher number of beneficiaries.
